Planning Your Wedding Day
Your wedding day is one of the best days of your life, or at least it
should be. But making sure your big day is perfect takes a lot of time,
effort, planning and patience.
There are so many aspects to consider and organise that you should really
start planning your wedding day about a year in advance, when your first job
will be to book your ceremony and reception venues, and draw up a guest
list. Some couples immediately know the venue where they want to tie the
knot, while others have no idea at all, but luckily help is at hand from
wedding planners and advisors.
Also worth thinking about 12 months in advance are your wedding
photographs, flowers, stationery and the wedding caterers. You should start
locating and contacting florists, photographers, etc, but may not need to
make your order until six months before the big day.
Six months before the wedding you should also have chosen your wedding
dress, bridesmaid dresses, bought the wedding rings, booked the honeymoon
and the wedding car, organised the wedding cake, and ordered your wedding
stationary, such as invitations, place name cards, etc.
Three months before your big day it is time to hire your suits, draw up
your wedding present list, and send out the wedding invitations. Then six
weeks before the wedding you need to visit a hairdresser, decide on your
style and book an appointment for the day, and buy the gifts for your
bridesmaid, best man, ushers, pageboys, and the bride and groom’s parents.
A week before the big day you should check all your arrangements and hold
a rehearsal of the ceremony, so the only thing you’ll need to think about on
your wedding day is enjoying yourselves!
